La Hacienda Care and Maintenance

Clay Chimenea
Care and Maintenance of La Hacienda Products

Cast Iron Chimeneas and BBQs
All models are traditionally sand cast in solid cast iron; including the flues- no weaker rolled steel is used. Simple assembly is required and spare parts are available on request. By nature, cast iron will surface rust over time which is cosmetic only and will not affect the function of the chimenea. To inhibit rusting, rub the chimenea with an oily rag after each use and repaint when necessary using a high temperature BBQ or stove paints. Intense or very regular burning will increase the rate of rusting.

Fire pit and Grill
Made in heavy duty steel, with stainless steel grills and handles. These will surface rust over time and this is to be expected. To inhibit rusting, rub the fire pit with an oily rag after each use and repaint when necessary with a high temperature BBQ or stove paint.

Fire Baskets
All models are made from steel coated with high temperature paint. Due to the nature of steel, all models will surface rust over time, more rapidly if left uncovered in the rain or if fires intense. Repaint when necessary with high temperature BBQ or stove paint.

Buschbeck Masonry BBQs
Made from high density concrete, with quartz and steel inserts. There is no need to surface paint or seal the BBQs just let wash or hose down at the end of the season.

Mexican pottery and Candles
This decorative range is for use indoors or outdoors but note that they are not frost resistant. The paint finish will deteriorate over time if left outside.

Clay Chimeneas
Made to high standards, from a mix of refined clays by artisans with generations of experience. The textured paint finish is applied by hand so a variation in colour density will occur between each piece. After firing, the paint will gradually age. Over-firing will burn off the paint completely and may crack the chimenea. La Hacienda chimeneas have been water sealed but to prolong their life, treat the outer surface with chimseal every few months and use a chimenea cover. They are frost resistant if cared for correctly as detailed in the care leaflet provided.

Fire Bowls
Made from steel or stainless steel, depending on model. Steel bowl and mesh cover will rust over time and stainless steel components will tarnish, especially with intense heat. Repaint steel with high temperature paint if necessary. Burn logs or charcoal on top of the grates in the fire bowls, not directly on the bowl itself.

Charcoal BBQs
Made from stainless steel, which will tarnish and discolour over time, especially with intense heat. This is to be expected.

Hammocks
Fabric is a cotton/polycotton mix for strength and durability with a maximum safe load of 100kg. Hammocks are to be kept dry at all times as they will be weakened if hammocks are left in direct sunlight. Stands are made from powder coated steel.

Ecoblock
Environmentally friendly garden torches produced from dead wood. To be used outdoors only, on a non-flammable base such as a terracotta saucer, on gravel or concrete, or on a paving slab. Light away from flammable material and do not leave unattended whilst alight. Keep away from children.
